Salon
A haven of serenity amidst the rush of the castle, the salon is designed as a place for relaxation or socialization. A hearty fire burns in the massive, marble fireplace, throwing a russet glow across the room. The walls are divided top from bottom with pale wooden paneling above and lapis marble with silver veins shot through it below. Several armchairs, a couch, and a loveseat are set around a beautiful table for an intimate tete-a-tete, the furniture finely made of deep mahogany wood with blue and silver cushions. An azure rug covers the center of the room, but at the edges the dark wood of the floor can be seen. A side table holds tea, coffee, wine and several small hors d'oeuvres, and desserts.

Having taken a little walk, Robben has dound himself in the Salon, and has seated himself in one of the armchairs, looking a bit thoughtful at the moment. Not believeing there's anyone else here, he whistles a bit to himself at the moment.

Young girl, who couldn't sleep, carefully opens the door and steps inside. Her steps are so gingerly, so elegant and slow. She could remind panther, who is drifting to his prey, if her grey eyes wouldn't be so good, so warm and innocent.
Her tress falxen hair falls on girl's shoulders bluring with the same flaxen, almost golden dress. Even if the dress looks quite simple, long sleeves, which almost sweeps the ground, gives something. Something what makes the whole view so beautiful.
Flames in the fireplace starts dancing on the dress, changing the shapes of a fragile body. Girl's gaze slips through the room, looking for the source of whistling. If not that sound, she would never see the man, who is all hidden in that massive armchair.
When girl comes closer, taking the seat in front of fireplace and waving for Gaela to bring some tea, she finally sees the face of the man, which makes young girls cheeks lose their colour. "Your Grace…" she just whispers.

Looking up as he hears those words, Robben offers a quiet smile to Caillin. "That would be my father and not me, Your Highness," he offers a bit quietly, before he offers her a bit of a smile now. "I didn't think anyone else would be here at this time…"

Both eyebrows quickly jump up, when the girl hears Robben's comment. Cheeks get back their colour quite quickly and these flames in fireplace just emphasise the redness of it.
"I am so sorry… I don't know why I said so, my lord…" soft voice mumbles and she is lucky, that Gaela gets back with the tea, placing it to the hands of the princess. Handmaiden sits a little bit farther, but not too far. Maybe, slightly vanishing in the shadows, cause she always likes to be there, but her brown eyes are intently following everything, seeing everything.
Caillin immerses her lips to the tea, trying to get a chance not to speak anymore. However, girl has just to flinch and frown. Tea is hot. Way too hot to drink it in one gulp and run away.
So, she just moistens these rosebud lips and places the cup on the table besides her armchair, turning a shy gaze to the lord "Well, actually, I didn't expected to meet someone either…"
She sticks grey glance somewhere on the wall. Slightly tapping with her foot on the ground. She opens her mouth, as she would like to add something, but decides to remain in that slightly uncomfortable silence.

Robben smiles a little. "Don't worry about it," he replies, before he looks around, and then back to Caillin again. "Any particular reason why you came here?" he asks, a bit gently now. Expression a bit concerned, as he looks around for a few moments of pause, then back to the Princess.

Caillin narrowly cants her head and nods "I love to come here, when I can't sleep. The warm tea and fire. It calms me down. Sometimes I fall asleep here. Sometimes I like just to close my eyes and listen. Listen how the wood is cracking, how these flames are whispering…" thoughtful voice drawls, while hands are reaching for the cup again. Another sip is taken.
"My lord, if I may… Do you have reasons to run away from your dreams and hide in this armchair too?.." question leaves girl's throat and her shoulders tremble as it would frighten the princess.

"Ah, that sounds quite nice, yes," Robben replies, before he shakes his head a little bit as he hears that last part. "I couldn't get to sleep, so I decided to come out here for a little bit, so I wouldn't disturb my wife." Another brief pause, before he looks back to Caillin again, studying her a bit quietly now. Almost as if a bit curious.

"Oooh… I see…" drawls young girl, letting a small breeze out from her lips, just to cool her tea. She takes another sip and peeks at the lord. Seeing his gaze on her, Caillin slightly turns her head Gaela's direction and continues sipping the drink.
Princess' blush remains on her skin and a small steam from the tea colours tip of her nose in some redness too. Once more she inhales, opening her lips as to say something, but a gentle bite stops her, remaining in tiny awkward silence.

Robben smiles after a few moments now. "My wife told me you ran from the game room when she was there a few days ago, Your Highness?" A brief pause, as he studies Caillin again now. "She was a bit concerned about it."

Girl swallows a massive gulp of fear and shame. She scratches her shoulder gently and starts running with her fingers around the edge of the cup. "Did I?" soft voice nervously whispers "I guess… I just felt bad… or… something…" mutters Princess as silently as she can. Words sound unclear, there are these long pauses between them, because of not knowing how to explain her actions.

"Felt bad?" Robben asks a bit quietly, before he offers a quiet smile. "The betrothal?" he asks, a bit quietly. Studying her for a few moments now, he offers a gentle smile. "It's understandable."

These frank questions from lord's lips make young girl to swallow another massive gulp. Though, this time, of tea. Still slightly too hot tea. Caillin quickly places the cup on the table and cough silently. The hand covers rosebud lips to muffle the sound.
"We could say so, I guess… Bet… betro…betrothal, in part…" finally Caillin pronounces that word, which was stuck in her throat for quite long.
She firmly closes her eyes, frowns and even crouches in the armchair, when /that/ word ripples through the room. She does not say anything else for now.

Robben nods a little as he hears that, offering her a quiet smile now. "I'm sorry," he offers after a few moments of pause now. "I guess I'm just curious about how you were doing with all of this." Another brief pause, before he adds, "I hope you can forgive me."

"Sorry?" now her eyes finds the man "My lord, you don't have to be sorry… I believe… This is me, who…" once more girl starts stammering "Well… I didn't wanted… I am not sayin… It just… I should…" Princess just frowns and raises a cup to her lips. The longer sip is taken, breathing slowly and girl closes her eyes. She just sits in silence for now. Likely, she manages to gather her minds and whisper "I'm sorry…"

Getting to his feet slowly, Robben smiles, "We were quite surprised, both my Father and me when your brother suggested it to us." Stepping over to the Princess, he reaches out to put a hand on her shoulder if she lets him. "You know, when Father told me I was marrying, I had similar feelings as I'm sure both you and Ruthgar has now. But as I get to know her better, I found true happiness there. Something I hope you two will find as well." A brief pause, before he adds, "Have you spoken to him, after it was decided?"

Caillin raises her look to the man, slipping with grey eyes on his hand and back to his eyes. Princess sighs. There is something. Something like honest "Thank you" in her look, but she slowly fixes her gaze on her own knees.
Shake of the head is given "I did not, my lord… I am…" girl sighs again "I am afraid of this… Does he already know about this? I bet he was pretty unhappy about such news…"
Hand with the cup starts shaking, filling some tea on girl's fingers. "I met him a few times before…" soft voice drawls "And… If I may…" a pause is given, while girl scratches her ear "I am sorry, If I will look too bold… But…" another pause, longer pause is given "I saw sadness in his eyes. Sadness and distrust. He does not trust people. Something is wrong… Deep in his heart. I saw a shadow…" her hand raises near her own heart and she quickly starts explaining "I am really sorry, I did not wanted to offend you or him… I believe he is good, but… I spend most of my time with commoners, with children! I see such things. I see, when there is something…" grey eyes find lord's again and Caillin gently touches his hand on her shoudler, squeezing it slightly, shaking "I am afraid there will be no this happiness…"

"He knows," Robben replies, before he adds, "Father and I gave him the news not long after it was decided." A brief pause as he hears the rest, before he adds, "And yes, there is a shadow there. But I think he can manage to move past it at some point in time." A brief pause, before he adds, "Just give him the chance, Your Highness. That's all anyone can ask."

"The chance…" whispers Caillin, putting her tea away and leaning in her armchair, but turning the head to the lord "Question is, does he want that chance?… Sometimes people choose rather live in their past than moving forward…"
Princess sighs again "My lord, I already tried to show him the light… Before all this… He said - "no"…"

Robben sighs a little as he listens now. "He knows he needs to move on, I believe. But like I said, he may need some time." A quiet sigh, before he looks around again for a few moments now. "But even before that, the rest of us are still looking forward to you being a part of the family."

Caillin stands up and cants her head, looking to the lord in front of her. Her eyes are quite speechless for a few moments. The silence and staring may be awkward at first, but it quickly changes.
A brief smile flashes in girl's blushing face. She starts shifting from one foot to another, while grey eyes fill with some warmth.
Princess extands her hands and hugs the man as the sister would hug her brother or a daughter would hug her father "Thank you. Thank you very much! I will try to help for your brother… I will try…" and she withdraws from the lord, waving for her handmaiden to follow.
When the girl appears on the doorway, she whispers under her nose finishing her sentence "… because I do not have another choice. But we all have to get a chance… Me too…"
Princess turns her head to the lord "Have a nice evening, my lord," and she leaves.
