Moniwid Suite
The first thing usually noticed about this room is the sense of openness, as it is not laden with heavy furniture. The floor is a soft grey marble. One wall features a huge window, taking up almost the whole wall and showing a lovely view of the horizon. To the right of the window, there is a stone fireplace decorated with amber and some old carvings. There is an incredibly cozy couch in front of the fireplace, in a dark brown cotton type material.
In the middle of the room, there is a burnished oaken long table with eight matching chairs. There are eight crystal place settings ready for use. A wild flower centerpiece has been placed on the table as decoration. The floor of the dining area has been covered with the prey of some hunter in the form of a brown bear fur rug.
There is a smaller wooden door, leading to the Grand Duke's Room, on the left wall of the room . On both sides of the door, small candles are available to provide light when it is dark. There are also candle sconces on the other walls and a candelabra on the table. Above the fireplace, the prey of some other hunters resides: two deer heads with beautiful antlers can be found, one to each side. Between the deer, the edges of two sharp, crossed swords glint.
17th day of Inouv, 228

It is a few hours before dinner, and most activity concentrates on the floors below, as the Castle slowly starts to get ready. Whereas the guest quarters at the Upper Hall of the Castle still retain a refreshing calm. Well, at least until hurried foot steps resound from the proud walls of the Keep - perhaps not exactly hurried but spirited rather. The door to the Moniwid Suite opens, and a young maid rushes in, followed by a chaperone that seems slightly out of breath and two Moniwid guards.

Once inside, Emerit turns to take in the exhaustion of her company with moss green eyes that sparkle with amusement. Her fiery red hair falls about her shoulders in the usual wild manner. She wears a dress of dark green, with sliver snakes embroidered on the skirts, and around her neck she wears a necklace with the pendant of many snakes entwined in each other - the pendant of the ambassador of Rustles Island.

Draventa glances up from the couch. She's got on some fancy dress that her handmaid picked out for her and her pale blue eyes land on her half sister. Her legs are tucked up underneath her and she has a sketchbook on her lap, her right sleeve is already gotten several smudges on it from the drawing. She seems to be alone, except for the fire.

Emerit's brows jump upwards as it seems she notices her half-sister just at this very moment. "Drav… I mean, you highness.", she greets, the amusement fading from her young freckled features at once as she lowers herself into a curtsey. "You've startled me. Didn't almost notice you, as quietly as you sit there." There is a slight tension when she approaches Draventa to shoot a cautious glance at what the princess is working on. "Hmm, it seems this place has done nothing to dampen your creativity…." An attempt of starting a polite conversation.

Draventa doesn't rise, but that's normal. Her legs have always been weak. Instead she bows her head to the ambassador. "I did not mean to startle anyone." The sketch is of a man, and after a tilt of the head, it's clear it's Crown Prince Conall Aberdeen, their cousin. "My creativity seems to be the only thing I have left to offer. Why would I abandon it?" Her words aren't quite rude, or even mean sounding. She sounds more tired than anything else, maybe a touch sad.

"No, certainly not, your highness.", Emerit replies quickly at her half-sister's first remark. "It's just… I have to get used to so much company here in our quarters, as I have been here alone for some months." Her moss green eyes seem to darken momentarily, but then the bastard princess is all politeness again. "And don't say such a thing. Your creativity is a great gift. But it is not the only thing you have to offer. Certainly not. You are a princess, a princess of Rustles Island, the most beautiful place in the world!" Her gaze flits to the drawing and her mien sombres as she recognizes their cousin at once. "So you've seen Prince Conall already? I would be glad to say I've exchanged more than two or three words with him ver since I am here, but that would be a lie." Her dislike for him is obvious as she lowers her gaze and straightens, still standing.

Draventa says, "I shall try to not impose too much. Once my quarters are set, I shall not bother anyone." Even for Drav, that's a bit….solitary. She's usually quiet in large groups, unless she's wandering off somewhere to paint. An eyebrow is raised, and Drav's head tilts, almost too much that it's near comical. "That's true. I still have to be wed. I still have that to offer. But once the Grand Duke finds someone to marry me off to, all I will have is my creativity." Her eyes drift slowly to the paper, "Yes…Prince Conall escorted me in Temple. I'm glad he's here." Drav spend a summer visiting the Aberdeen islands when she was younger."

Something in Draventa's reply or in the way she says it, makes Emerit finally take a seat. She does not sit down beside her, but rather in a chair opposite from her half-sister. "None of us is married yet," the Mist of the Island remarks, now tilting her head a little as well. "This is an advantage House Kilgour has not. They married off most of their children already, rather disadvantageous matches. And… well I am happy you enjoy his company then." A grimace. "You two got along well, if I remember correctly." And he is of course unmarried as well.

Draventa's eyes seem to lose what little color they have, going to a soft grey. "Not all of us will, unless it's what's desired." Drav does this sometimes, speaks in almost riddles. Her head tilts in the other direction, almost like an animal that's studying something, "Of course I do. He's my cousin." Drav actually has been sending him drawings every few months since that summer. "Estevan has suggested I go to market. I was going to see if Conall would escort me." Way better than guards, in Drav's opinion.

"Not all of us will? How can you be so sure?", Emerit inquires, a slightly incredulous chuckle escaping her lips as her moss green eyes are raised to meet Draventa's gaze. "Mantilo… I mean his royal highness the Grand Duke suggested even I could think to marry…" She lets that outrageous piece of news hang in the air for a moment before she continues. "I need to advise you though on the customs in this country, you highness. It will be frowned upon to go anywhere without your guards and a chaperone. People will start talking if it is otherwise, and infer that some uncouth behaviour has taken place." She lowers her gaze once again with a low chuckle. "Interesting that there has been so much scandal at this court of late, in spite of them being so strict with their precautions…"

Draventa 's eyebrows come together. "I feel some will not be married off unless they chose to." If Drav is surprised by that bit of scandal , she's not showing it. In fact she just sighs softly, her eyes lower to her drawing. "i will bring who I need." She sounds annoyed and will raise a finger to smudge part of the sketch.

Emerit lets out a sigh. "I only mean well, your highness. I've been at this court for a time now, and it is vital that we respect their ways for the time of our stay." Her gaze is lowered. "I know you are not keen on accepting advice from the likes of me. I can hardly imagine you are happy about Mantilo's decision. To make me the ambassador of our House here at Darfield." There is a light twitch at the corner of her mouth. "And maybe you find it hard to accept counsel from someone whom is two years younger than you. But… please, think about it. And don't do anything unwise, that's all I ask."

The bastard princess rises from her seat and announces her departure with a curtsey, before she moves towards the door of her chamber. "I will leave you now to your drawing, your highness, and change for dinner." Emerit pauses at the door, turning her attention to Draventa for a last time. "Oh… and by the way. Our brother the Grad Duke has gifted me with a wonderful present upon his return. A lizard. Just like the one I had when I was younger, back at Rustles Island. I am sure you remember it well."

Draventa doesn't look up, "My happiness on anything Mantilo does has never been his concern. It shouldn't affect anything now…. I will do nothing to shame the name of Moniwid." She'll look up when Emerit is at the door, "Oh course he did. I'm glad his doting hasn't changed." She'll inhale like she's going to say more, then shakes her head and looks back don to her drawing.

Emerit stands there at the door, her moss green eyes lingering on Draventa for a long moment. Hearing her inhale and then that shake of the head make the Mist of the Island lower her gaze and it seems she needs a moment as well as thoughts and memories are racing through her head. But then she straightens with a faint smile, and waving for the chaperone she disappears into her chamber. Her two guards are dismissed and move outside to their posts before the entrance to the Moniwid Suite.
