Library - Darfield Castle
Your footsteps are muffled by the thick, dark blue carpeting of the library. This room has been furnished to encourage the pursuit of scholarship and learning: Several large, comfortably cushioned mahogany chairs invite you to sit and read for hours. A few tables and desks of the same deep red wood are provided for more serious studies. The room is well lit with chandeliers.
Heavy doors to the north lead out to the hallway, and cut off any sound from that direction. To the east, ornate windows let in the indirect sunlight, and a door leads into the royal gardens. An alcove contains a message area, and an archway leads into the Library Collections proper. Stairs lead up to the second level of the library.
30th Thedor, 229

It's afternoon, and a cold one at that, but at least for now it seems to have stopped snowing. The library is quiet, which may be why Eoin has chosen it as a meeting point for a series of conversations he needs to have, starting with Kieryn. Waiting for the Ruxton man to arrive he sits in on of the large cushioned chairs, a map on the table and a flagon of warm cider on hand to keep out the aforementioned cold.

Kieryn wanders into the library as he's recieved word that the Admiral wanted to speak with him, since the last communications they had, were all done by letters, so he makes his way to the library. He glances around and sees where Eoin is located and he makes his way over towards the man and gives him a salute. "Ah, Admiral it's good to see you again. I met your sister the other day and assured her you'd be back soon and that she didn't need to worry too much."

Eoin pushes himself to his feet as he notes Kieryn's arrival and gives him a brief nod to acknowledge the salute. "Captain, thank you for coming so promptly," he starts, waving a hand in the vague direction of the flagon to indicate that he should feel free to help himself. There's a brief smile as his sister is mentioned and he replies, "yes, I had heard that you were kind enough to offer her some support while I was gone. Thank you for that." Taking up his own drink he then motions towards the map which appears to be the west coast of Morbin, Kundari and Jadda. "You're familiar enough with these seas of course."

Kieryn takes the flagon and takes a drink from it for a few moments, before he glances to the map and nods, "Yes, I am familiar with them pretty well." he studies them for a few long moments anyway, just because. "Are those ports ones we are considering starting the mission from?"

Eoin shakes his head slowly as he studies the map silently for a moment, it's the waters he's been sailing since he was a boy, but he still studies it all the same. "No, we'll be sailing from this coast in order to hit the Lannivers, these ports, back home, are the ports you just became responsible for." He leaves that a moment to sink in, then explains more throughly. "GIven the alliance between Lanniver and Jadda I'm leaving a portion of the leveed ships from houses Ruxton, Kincaid and Haravean on the West coast. We're expecting the Skingaard to help defend the trade routes, and for Kundari to act as a sort of buffer zone, but we need a fleet on that coast to conordinate and lead the house fleets." Turning back to the man he adds, "that fleet needs a commander and congratulations Captain, that's you."

Kieryn blinks at that bit of information, but then quickly hides it as he nods, "Commander hmm?" he nods some still a little stunned, "Alright, I can do that. Though, I do have a question. I have heard rumors of Greenshire and Lakeshire maybe having some problems with one another? Do you know anything about that? Something about what flags ships need to be flying? Do you know if that is any ship that passes through, or is it just for merchant ships, or perhaps just the ships that belong to Greenshire and Lakeshire? I found those rumors and reports a little disturbing and not too easy to decipher."

Eoin takes a swing of his drink before he event attemtps to start answer that one. "Thats possibly going to be the harder part of the job than protecting from Jadda," he starts with, just to be cheery. "Long and the short of it, Greenshire controls the enterance to the lake," he points to the small inlet on the map, "Lakeshire hates that, has done for longer than I;ve been alive certainly. The current Duke is particularly bad for it and has been finding offense in just about anything Greenshire has done for years now. He'll likely tell you different of course, but that how I've seen it." Another pause to drink and he moves to address the more recent issue. "The latest rumours seem to stem from an increase in security that the Count ordered through the inlet, not stopping Kincaid ships, or anyother Morbin flags, or legt traders from elsewhere from passing, just making sure they are who they say they are and not Jaddad raiders or pirates flying a false flag. Anyway, long story short, the Duke took offense and issued a few decrees of his own. I won't claim to be entirely clear on the details but since you'll be working with Kincaid and Haravean ships you might need to keep an eye on things. For that part of the job, I apologise, it's not something I'd wish on just about anyone. Lord Marshall wants us to talk with both Duke and Count though, see if we can get an agreement on the non-leveed ships helping with patrols to, possibly for a share of hold space in the warships or other incentive."

Kieryn takes another drink from his flagon as he listens to the explination and brief history lesson on how things began and he nods in understanding, "Ah, that makes a bit more sense, now that I know a little more about the situation of what's going on right now and in the past. So its just a rather large dispute." he nods, "I agree, that it would be a good idea to speak with botht he Count and the Duke to see what we can do about this. We do not really need our own people bickering and skirmishing as it will make matters of keeping everyone safe. At least in my opinion that is. I can see why you'd say that this might be a harder situation to handle than protecting the area from Jadda." he chuckles a little, "I suppose it may help some that I am on good terms with the Count and while I do not really know the Duke, as I just met him the other evening, that may change in the future as well." he drinks deeply from the flagon again and sighs a little. "You know this is a large task, but I think that I am up to the challenge."

"Good luck in stopping any bickering," Eoin replies with a wry smile followed by another drink, "but I dobut it will come to a skirmish. The disagreement may be generations old, but it has also been a long time since I blood was shed." As far as he can recall anyway. "It will also help that you bend the knee to House Ruxton, as such it will be harder for anyone to claim you are working for the interests of the other as it were but yes, it is a large task. Had I not thought you up for it though, I would not have recommended you for it to the Crown Prince."

Kieryn nods some and chuckles at that, "Well, I thik maybe an impartial ear and point of view might be good in trying to sort things out, you know? Plus I can be charismatic if I try hard enough to be." he winks, "And thank you for the recommendation Admiral. I wont let you down or disappoint you for doing so. It wont be easy like you said, but I will do what I can to be a good Commander."

Draining the remains of his drink Eoin sets the beaker down and moves to start rolling the map up again. "Very well than, I shall leave you to pondering your next move. If you require assistance with anything then either myself or Prince Tyrel should be around, although if you're going to be dealing with the Count and Duke you might want a sligtly flasher title, one with a bit more weight behind it." He pauses for a moment as he ponders, "how does 'First Captain of the Fleet' sound? Or possibly 'First Captain of the Western Fleet'?"

Kieryn chuckles and nods, pondering the two offered title names, "I think I like First Captain of the Western Fleet best, since it pretty much fits the job." he grins some, "Oh, I had put up a notice about meeting with the Captains of various ships that have come into port since you had been away, but unfortunately I have yet to hear from any of them. I know we have one or two from Aberdeen and, one of the owners of a ship in port said he'd probably not go, because he's not sure how well he would be recieved seeing as he's from the Finger Isles, that owner of that three masted ship out at the docks."

"Avi Rendann?" Eoin replies with a questioning look, "were it up to me he'd be hung as a pirate. Sadly, he has ambassadorial status though, so we can't touch him." The look in his eyes suggests though that he's just waiting for that protection to end. "If any of the others do get in touch let me know, a meeting would be useful. Hopefully soon we should also have the workings for the most favourable tides for our other little operation, I will keep you posted on that." Map now rolled and resting under one arm he asks, "do you have any other questions for now?"

Kieryn shakes his head, "No, no other questions at the moment, thank you Admiral, we will get together again soon and I will let you know if I hear from any of the other captains. I will also keep an eye on the tides as well." he stands and bows, "Until then."
