Skill Definitions

Please remember to be age appropriate when selecting skill levels. Skills are based not on training only but actual experience.

These are strictly the out of chargen levels. They can be raised through xp spends once IC, to the level of 10. 10 is currently our cap

Active Skills

Apothecary
The art of mixing of potions, counter poisons, and basic herbology.

1- Has watched an apothecary before. Once.
2 - Has watched a few times and picked up a few pointers.
3 - Can mix a maximum of one potion with success most always.
4 - Able to mix simple potions.
5 - Able to mix more complex potions.
6 - Able to mix difficult potions, administer different herbs.
7 - Able to mix any potions, administer herbs and identify herbs on sight. At least 5 years experience
8 - Able to mix any potions, administer herbs, identify herbs and already mixed potions from others. At least 10 years experience.
9 - Can do everything listed below and has 15 years experience.
10+ - The ultimate herbalist 20+years experience

Archery
The use of bows, longbows, hunting bows and crossbows.

1 - Someone who has had a few lessons.
2 - Someone with regular but infrequent lessons.
3 - Someone with regular lessons but no actual experience.
4 - A generic professional archer.
5 - An experienced professional archer.t.
6 - A long-time professional archer.
7 - An archer with combat experience. At least 5 years experience.
8 - A champion archer. At least 10 years experience.
9 - A veteran with extensive combat experience. At least 15 years experience.
10+ - A master archer. At least 20 years experience.

Blades
Fighting with swords, knifes, or any other kind of blade.

1 - Someone who has had a few lessons.
2 - Someone with regular but infrequent lessons.
3 - Someone with regular lessons but no actual experience.
4 - A generic squire.
5 - A new knight.
6 - An experienced knight.
7 - A knight with combat experience. At least 5 years experience
8 - A champion with a blade. At least 10 years experience.
9 - A veteran with extensive combat experience. At least 15 years experience.
10+ - A master with a blade. At least 20 years experience.

Bludgeons
Fighting with weapons such as axes and hammers.

1 - Someone who has had a few lessons.
2 - Someone with regular but infrequent lessons.
3 - Someone with regular lessons but no actual experience.
4 - A generic squire.
5 - A new knight.
6 - An experienced knight.
7 - A knight with combat experience. At least 5 years experience.
8 - A champion with bludgeons. At least 10 years experience.
9 - A veteran with extensive combat experience. At least 15 years experience.
10+ - A master with a bludgeon. At least 20 years experience.

Defense
The Ability to defend in combat.

1- Ow. That hurt.
2. What? Someone is fighting me?
3 - I think I can hold a shield. But hold a sword at the same time?
4 - Able to wield a shield and a sword with somewhat successful results.
5 - Experienced in holding a shield while fighting.
6 - Pro at using a shield in combat.
7 - Able to defend with shield and evasive maneuvers. At least 5 years experience.
8 - Experienced in using a shield and evasive maneuvers. At least 10 years experience.
9 - Pro at using a shield and evasive maneuvers. At least 15 years experience.
10+ - Master of defense. Rarely, if ever, are things able to make direct contact (depending on the roll) At least 20 years experience.

Healer
Advanced doctor skills, including surgery.

1 - Someone who took a first-aid class.
2 - Someone who can do CPR equivalent.
3 - Someone who has had regular but infrequent first-aid lessons.
4 - Can administer emergency first aid help.
5 - An experienced medical assistant
6 - A trained general doctor, able to diagnose some ailments.
7 - An experienced trauma surgeon or specialist, able to diagnose most ailments. At least 5 years experience
8 - Someone capable of teaching a few tricks to experienced doctors, able to diagnose ALL ailments except the foreign ones. At least 10 years experience.
9 - A doctor with many years experience and multiple specialties. At least 15 years experience.
10+ - A master of the healing arts. At least 20 years experience.

Melee
Fighting with Fists.

1 - Someone who pulls hair when fighting.
2 - Pulls hair and stomps on someone's foot?
3 - Someone who can throw a punch and even connect.
4 - One who can throw a punch and defend themselves at the same time.
5 - One who can fight and put up a good showing. Experienced.
6 - Has had many bar fights. And won several of them.
7 - A few years of actual training in fighting. At least 5 years experience.
8 - Several years of training in fighting or a veteran of bar fights. At least 10 years experience.
9 - A person who has won almost every bar fight ever in, and has had training, extensively. At least 15 years experience.
10+ - Almost always undefeated in a fight. At least 20 years experience.

Perception
The ability of perceiving the events around you. Very useful in spotting lies, forged documents, etc.

1 - Someone who notices that the sun has risen.
2 - Someone who notices whether it's morning, noon or night by position of the sun.
3 - Someone who can tell the time of day by the sun.
4 - Someone who feels uneasy when something is wrong
5 - Someone who is experienced with scouting.
6 - A professional scout.
7 - Someone who misses very little that goes on around them. At least 5 years experience.
8 - An experienced noble who notices even minor facial expressions. At least 10 years experience.
9 - Notices most everything around themselves. At least 15 years experience.
10+ - Someone who catches even the slightest change in the world around them. At least 20 years experience.

Polearms
The art of using spears, lances, pikes, etc. Used in jousting tournaments.

1 - Someone who has had a few lessons.
2 - Someone with regular but infrequent lessons.
3 - Someone with regular lessons but no actual experience.
4 - A generic squire.
5 - A new knight.
6 - An experienced knight.
7 - A knight with combat experience. At least 5 years experience.
8 - A champion with polearm. At least 10 years experience.
9 - A veteran with extensive combat experience. At least 15 years experience.
10+ - A master with a polearm. At least 20 years experience.

Horsemanship
The art of controlling a horse.

1 - Someone who rode a pony a few times when they were young.
2 - Someone with a few lessons in horsemanship, but not many.
3 - Someone who doesn't fall off more than half the time when they jump their horse.
4 - Fully capable of riding.
5 - Someone who is capable of racing horses if they desire.
6 - A skilled and experienced horseman.
7 - A horseman with years of experience. At least 5 years experience.
8 - A champion horseman. At least 10 years experience.
9 - Someone who has won multiple major riding competitions. At least 15 years experience.
10+ - A master horseman or horsewoman. At least 20 years experience.

Stealth
Being Sneaky.

1 - Someone who has a one in four chance of getting caught being sneaky.
2 - Someone who has a one in six chance of getting caught being sneaky.
3 - Someone who is fair at remaining quiet and being able to sneak around fairly well.
4 - Been caught fairly often trying to be sneaky.
5 - Been caught a time or two when trying to be sneaky.
6 - Can make a living picking pockets.
7 - Someone who can disappear from a crowded room. At least 5 years experience.
8 - Someone who can hide in a crowd without being noticed. At least 10 years experience.
9 - Someone who can disappear from an almost empty place. (with a successful roll) At least 15 years experience.
10+ - Can disappear whenever they want to. (with a successful roll) At least 20 years experience.

Stewardship
The art of running a keep, managing lands, business, etc. This is for Stewards, Heirs, HoH.

1 - Someone who knows that a noble house needs to have basic necessities brought in.
2 - Minor Knowledge, can assist in running a house.
3 - Able to run without assistance, though still ask questions.
4 - Able to run your own very small business.
5 - Able to run a minor vassal house efficiently.
6 - Able to run a moderate size business or run a major vassal house.
7 - Able to run a major business with efficiency. At least 5 years experience.
8 - Someone who could efficiently run a Major House. At least 10 years experience.
9 - A professional in administrator, could teach others. At least 15 years experience.
10+ - The equivalent of an accounting firm, the best. At least 20 years experience.
