Oxley was born the only son of Wesley and Amora Crawford, cousins of the Crawford line. From an early age, Oxley was trouble. He was always sneaking around and getting into things he shouldn't, and often stealing things the family could easily afford simply for the attention. Wesley met his son's difficulties with disinterest, leaving Amora to try to find solutions.
First, Amora hired a tutor to teach Oxley to play the harpsichord. While he was in front of the instrument, Oxley was a brilliant student. He loved to play the instrument and sing, practicing as much as he could. Unfortunately, whenever he was away from the keyboard, he was back to his old ways. Wesley's disinterest only added to Oxley's mischief, since the main reason the boy acted up was to get his father's attention.
As he neared his teen years, Oxley began to notice that he found little interest in girls. In fact, his interest found him eyeing other young men. At the age of thirteen, his mother caught him in a scandalous moment with one of the stable boys, and that was Wesley's last straw. Wesley sought to find Oxley a place to learn to be a man and to be honorable and respectable, so he sent Oxley to become a squire.
Oxley was paired with Sir Aidan Kincaid. This match was perfect in Wesley's eyes, as the Kincaids are known for their strict upbringing and harsh methods of discipline. Wesley made certain Aidan was aware of Oxley's transgression with the stable boy, and then left him with the knight. In the years since, Oxley has come to respect, appreciate and idolize Sir Aidan. Aidan is certainly harsh, but the attention is really all Oxley has ever wanted.
Four years have passed, and in that time, Oxley has been a loyal squire, and would do anything for Sir Aidan. Certainly, whenever Oxley fails, his failure is met with an equally-sized physical beating. These beatings are how Oxley knows Sir Aidan loves him, for if Aidan didn't care, he wouldn't be so upset with his failures. They have also left him a bit twitchy in a fist fight. While he has no issues with the sword, when someone raises a fist at him, Oxley is quick to flinch, prepared for a beating.
