Khaleel Vaziri was born on the Eastern Islands, to a Kezian Family. He was the first born son for his parents, and actually the first born child. He has two younger sisters, but no brothers. His parents were successful merchants, specifically in the field of textiles and it was expected that Khaleel would take over at some point. As such he was educated not only in the basics of your typical education, but also in the basics of running and maintaining the family business, including running a shop, negotiation, and appraisal of goods. He took what little spare time he had and put it into more physical pursuits such as swimming, horseback riding, hunting and tracking and falconry. Of course his mother forced him to learn the basics of dance to make him more marriable, or at least that was her excuse, but the only art type skill he ever took to was wood carving and carpentry.
Khaleel's early life was rather unremarkable save one thing. Early on his parents learned their son had a near deadly allergy to fish and shellfish. His diet had to be monitored and many foods that were once staples in his family's household became near forbidden. In his young years he had a few near misses with his allergies as the staff learned to prepare his meals completely separate, especially when they were entertaining other families.
Khaleel learned what he was expected, and did as he was told, including going so far as to marry when he was told. He married a girl from a rival family, Inika Karimi. His initial attempts at settling down did not work out well. Khaleel wanted something other then a settled, sedentary life. He did not want the married, merchant life and Inika knew it. It led to some rather firey arguments between the two as Khaleel left most of the work of the household and the business to Inika while he went to train for a more exciting career as a warrior.
In their not so stellar times they did manage to have Kenrik and two years later Inika was pregnant again. While Kenrik's pregnancy was almost textbook, Meggan was not quite as nice to her mother. Inika started having problems early on, resulting in Khaleel being forced to return to the home to take care of things. In the beginning he resented being called back to a path he did not want, however as the pregnancy progressed and Inika grew weaker Khaleel's concern grew. He realized, about a month from Inika giving birth that his concern no longer was about being saddled with a life he didn't want and the potential of having to raise a child on his own, but for the possibility that he might lose his fiery wife and a child that had already gained his heart.
By the time Inika was set to give birth Khaleel had already decided that he needed to do better as a husband and a father. He had every intention of making things up to his wife and he almost lost the chance. Khaleel will never forget the fear he felt when the midwife called for additional help in delivering his daughter. He paced and paced the room outside the birth room, waiting to hear for news on his wife and child and when it came it was not good. Not only did both wife and daughter nearly die in childbirth but they were not out of the woods yet. Inika slipped in and out of a daze for days, and Meggan struggled with every breath. Khaleel quietly fretted, moving between wife and daughter, pledging both that if they just held on he would be a better man. Thankfully both wife and daughter were made of stern stuff, and Khaleel would say sterner stuff then he was made of, as they both survived and thrived.
Since that time Khaleel has come to adore his wife and children. In fact he swears that the women in his life have turned him from a seasoned warrior into a soft fluff, but he wouldn't change it for the world. He has also become more involved in the merchant arena, though he still claims his wife is far better at running things and he is willing to bow to her expertise. That does not mean the man is not willing to stand his ground, even against his wife, but he is also willing to sometimes admit that she was right… sometimes.
Like Inika, his family remains back at the Isles, though currently he has no plans to return for longer then a visit. He is enjoying being in Mobrin with his family, and while he tries to keep his skills up for possible defense of his family he is more focused on assisting in caring for his children and running the shop with his wife. It helps too that he can find a greater variety of foods that he can eat here. He has not cut off contact, and so the shop not only has Inika's contacts for exotic goods but his as well.
