Background & Family
"I don’t have a short temper; I just have a quick reaction time to bullshit.." Kaylee

Thanks to Master Renden, Kaylee was finally given rank of full Ranger, along with that a new job, one back home in Sutherland with Duke Ronan at that. There are worries and fears that the past will come back to haunt Kaylee now that she is home, many will recall the woman Ranger, and for certain the ones that attacked her years before are still to be found. She struggles with the fears, fighting with herself as she has little trust to tell anyone what happened as she wishes no one to think less of her. While being a full Ranger now she uses the Hunter title more, as this is what Duke Ronan wished as a way for her to perhaps learn more. Time will tell what may happen, with her past continue to haunt her, and if her past will find her again and perhaps try to cause more damage then it did in the past.
In this day and age, nothing is straight forward and easy, including Kaylee's life. To survive one must fight. Thus, at a young age Kaylee, being the middle child, she had to learn quickly to survive with a family that lived strictly off the land. Though it was made a little easier due to the fact that her father and eldest brothers were already rangers themselves. Yet, being a girl, they assumed early on she would not follow their footsteps. Evidently, she proved them wrong.
Kaylee had to go leaps and bounds further than her brothers to be accepted or even considered for the formal training. Immediately this meant that she was behind the boys her age and set with those who were younger than her. Even chopping her hair off only proved to deter the disapproval for a short period of time. It was probably only due to her knack with the horses that landed her any training at all in Sutherland. She can ride just about any horse if given the opportunity. She has an ease with the large animals, a whisper they say, that can get a horse to follow her without need of a rein. Even still, it was hard to convince the others that she wasn't just a jumped up stable hand. Her father and brothers were met with scorn for having taught her their way already as it was. She had knowledge of the bow and how to hunt. The rest of her skills, despite the grumbles, were eventually taught to her. More than once, by just being female, she had to defend herself in all ways a woman had to.

She had knowledge of the bow and how to hunt. The rest of her skills, despite the grumbles, were eventually taught to her. More than once, by just being female, she had to defend herself in all ways a woman had to. As it is for all that wish to be a ranger Kaylee would need to leave home and travel elsewhere for training. She was sent to Sky Forest for this reason and to start the real training to being. The training was harder for her then others seeing how she had to prove to everyone that just because she was a woman within a man’s world. Meanwhile back home word spread about a woman or in this case a girl still ranger that was doing better than many of the boys within her ‘class’ resentment ran deep between people not worried about such things too those that felt Kaylee should have never been allowed to go to Sky Forest. Her father knew this would be a problem should she ever return so was working hard to put into the works a way to keep his only daughter somewhat safe. He had friends, other rangers and letters were sent out to a chosen few hoping for a response.
Time passed letters back and forth and for a time there Kaylee’s father feared that no one would be willing to help his daughter. There was a time that Kaylee was permitted to return home to visit family, which at first was a warm homecoming though it would quickly turn into problems for the family as certain people within the region did not take kindly for what Kaylee was working so hard for. Luck was on Kaylee’s side though; one of the letters that her father sent out had come back. Master Ranger of Greenshire, Renden was interested in taking on Kaylee, he wanted to see this girl ‘whisper’ as a possible prospect to work with him in Greenshire and elsewhere in his travels. A master Ranger could offer Kaylee some protection, along with furthering her studies so at some point she could prove that she was able to carry the rank of a Sutherland Ranger down the road. It turned some eyes, to have a senior Green Ranger curious of her aptitudes. The leader of both Sutherland and Sky Forest begrudgingly told her to prepare to leave on this new journey. She was thrilled with the news and immediately told her father, who already had a knowing look to him.
To celebrate, the family went to the hunt, one last time together before she would be sent to Greenshire. It is during such time that celebration quickly turned to misfortune. The bear they had been hunting turned into a pack of anonymous men, faces covered, but weapons poised. They thought they would teach the family a lesson for the disgrace of having a girl being sent to Greenshire in their name. Although no one was ever found guilty of the assault, her father and one of her eldest brothers had been injured while trying to defend Kaylee - which only added more fuel to the fire. She managed to come out of it with her life, but, not with her innocence. Her father ended up being a cripple after the assault and distanced himself for many years from the rangers, taking to wandering. Her eldest brother in fact left the Sutherland rangers in hopes of finding another group to fall in with. And Kaylee? She couldn't let them win. She wouldn't let them win, even with her scars, she couldn't let it be all for naught.
It would happen again, her father warned her, as she was leaving for Greenshire. Unless she found Master Renden, who was probably the only ranger that would take her on as a squire honorably. Her father had actually worked side by side with Renden when he was younger, their bond growing strong together as they took on some heavy burdens. Her father vouched for the man that would protect his daughter but also teach her what she needed to know to be considered equal, if that would ever truly happen. Time would tell what her life would end up like, if she'll ever be considered an equal against her brothers in Sutherland or if she'll have to wander like her father and brother.
Renden had come through for her, like her father had declared he would. The man saw to it that she kept close quarters to him. If he wasn't around, he paired her up with a few trust worthy younger men in his command. It seemed for a time, easier for the girl in Greenshire. Even so, she continued to get the looks of disgust from many of the men, to which while Renden would try to sort them out, he could not keep her from getting a reputation with the men that she was some sort of bed warmer, seeing her often drinking with Renden.
Recently, as Renden has been detained in Stormvale on orders by the Count, she received word to follow him up and wait for further orders. Had she been born a boy, she would be most renowned for her skills, but she is a girl and has to live knowing that without the pity of an older man, she wouldn't be where she is.

The form before you is that of a young woman, age is somewhere within her early twenties if anyone was to guess. Her hair is dark brown with faint red highlights throughout it, length rests down above her shoulders and it holds a fair bit of lose wavy curls. She looks to be tomboyish which helps with her cover of pulling off being a man when the needs arise. Her eyes are pale ice blue and have an almost eerie look too them at times.
She stands about 5'6, a slender tall form with both muscle and curves found, though neither overly so. Her skin holds a slight bit of color to it, normally olive toned with a bit of honey like tan as if she has spent a fair amount of time out side, which may explain why she is stronger than she looks thanks to plenty of hard work. Clothing wise a long sleeved white shirt rests under a short sleeved dark green tunic, a brown deer hide vest over the tunic that buttons closed with three wooden buttons, a faint bit of light gray fur around the neck line, around her waist is a thick black leather belt while dark brown leather breeches rest upon her lower half, study boots upon her feet.
A leather cloak or jacket is often found with her to help with the elements that she may encounter. She carries with her a long bow that is often always at her side along with a quiver full of arrows upon her back. At times a faint glint of metal perhaps seen thanks to a set of daggers at her hip, though knowing her she has other things well hidden. Her jewelry is simple, a silver torque rests around her neck, the ends having horse heads, while upon her right wrist is a smaller one that wraps around her wrist twice, the ends wolves heads, at her left forearm is a dark brown leather bracer, also at her neck upon a thin bit of leather is a simple arrow head turned into a charm.
If one was to describe someone as hardheaded, stubborn, and with attitude they could easily picture Kaylee. She has plenty of reasons to act how she does, though that is not always what the full picture of her. Kaylee is also friendly, sarcastic, and one of the most reliable friends a person could possible have. She puts others before her, and when it comes to herself she does just enough to get by. Few get to learn or meet the real Kaylee, she does not easily give away her secrets, and it is hidden behind a wall that can at times crumble and leave her with moments of unsureness and sadness that she struggles to keep hidden.
