Emma Mowbray is the youngest child of Aileen and Fintan Mowbray, minor landed nobility, vassals to the Ruxton House of Weston. She came into the world shortly after her twin sister Eva. The girls were identical twins… in appearance anyway. Their temperament could not be more different, with Eva always seeking the spotlight and Emma always the more quiet and reserved sibling.
Aside from Eva, Emma had four older brothers and one older sister. Her eldest brother Torian died when she was a toddler, leaving her brother Eldan as heir to the Barony. Emma has little memory of her parents either. Her mother got sick when she was about 2 or 3 and eventually succumbed to the fever that raged through her. Her father did not live long after that, dying in what is said to have been an accident.
Emma and Eva were ultimately raised by their older brother Eldan and his wife Mairin. They were raised alongside Eldan and Mairin's twin sons who were the same age as the girls. As such they saw Eldan as more of a father than a brother, and still do to this day. Emma, though, is more likely to refer to Eldan as father than Eva, who as she grows older begins to speak to Eldan as more of a brother.
Emma led a very quiet life, largely contained to the Mowbray estate. She enjoyed riding, and learning all those things a girl of her station should learn, like dancing and needlework. She enjoys gardening as well, watching things grow and blossom. She spent much of her time on the estate either in the gardens or the stables. In the stables she learned not only how to ride, but how to care for the horses.
When Emma was about 12 or 13, Eldan, his wife, and his infant daughter went off for a simple carriage ride that changed many things for Emma. The carriage ride ended in tragedy, with Mairin, the only real mother Emma knew, dying. Eldan was not unscathed as he was rendered paralyzed in the accident. Emma has spent the last several years since the accident trying to help with Elyssa, Eldan and Mairin's young daughter, and trying to learn how to care for Eldan to make his life a bit easier.
Recently, Emma and her family have left Weston to head to Stormvale. Eldan figured he needed to give his sons, and Emma and Eva, more options for the future. Upon arrival in Stormvale, Eldan met with Lady Wenna, Royal Physician, who expressed an interest in fostering Emma's talents in the healing arts. Since then Emma has been working in the Infirmary in the Palace trying to learn all she can, while simultaneously trying to fit into a not so quiet life now with rules and politics she never encountered in the Mowbray estate. It's an exciting time, but equally as terrifying, making her debut into a world she's only been a small part of until now.
On the 11th of Nar, 229 Emma was married to Lord Hadrian Kincaid in a small ceremony.
