The story of Morella starts with her parents. The Crown Prince of Gangani at the time, Bevyn of the royal House of Sherer, in an attempt to add some diversity to the family bloodline, also to gain some of the better known physical qualities of the men and women of the Kezian natives of the Eastern Isles. Bevyn's father contacted one of the most powerful of the Kezian tribes, Mogul Nazmi Shakoor, who's sphere of control would be comparable to a Duke by the standards of the Dyfan and made an offer of marriage between his heir and the eldest daughter of the Mogul.
After a bit of a month of dealing the betrothal was agreed to and so Bevyn Sherer and Manaara Shakoor was wed. Since that time the couple had five children, the youngest of which is their daughter Princess Morella Labeela Sherer. Like all of their children Morella became fluent in the native language of both of her parents and personally inherited her father's red hair and blue eyes and her mother's beauty and skin tone, as a result is Morella considered beautiful by Gangani standards.
Morella's childhood was mostly typical of a Princess, the best tutors available, never having to want for anything, and additional lessons in the faith of the city. The City of Towers, as Gangani is also known by to outsiders, gained this name due to the large numbers of defensive towers around the city wall but also from the cluster of a half dozen towers with curtain walls of their own that surrounds a forum in the heart of the city. These towers acting as residences of the most influential and arguably dangerous members of House Sherer. Of the central towers, the most ambitious with the influence or power to vie for control resides in a different tower to reduce the risks of assassination.
Closest to her father and the third born, and youngest of Morella's older brothers, Morella herself mostly resided in the Royal Tower, home of the Potentate, as the local 'king' is called. Seemingly distancing herself from the intrigues of her House, she was believed to be a neutral party, one who was not a threat to anyone and so allowed to pass between the central towers freely.A sociable sort with a friendly face which makes most willing to talk to her when approached. Morella grew to be very inquisitive, mostly to learn and become more educated and to learn more about others.
Never all that powerful physically, Morella developed her mental talents as far as she could, even her physical reactions benefitted some from her training in defensive techniques. It was through the teachings of the local clergy Morella developed a good understanding of theology.
As in Gangani society and culture is largely the same as everywhere else, some gender roles are different. Running a household of any size is considered the work of women, as a result even Castellans are women. Also as they tend to be more attractive, less willing to start of fight, more sociable, and the like Ladies are also sent to represent in diplomatic or political fields as a result envoys, diplomats, ambassadors, and the like are always noble or royal women. Morella was no exception as she was trained in stewardship with that in mind.
As any proper Princess should, Morella was taught in the matters of etiquette, horsemanship, dancing, and politics. Morella also was given some basic lessons in the musical arts to help boost her natural charms, though the only one she had any skill in was singing. Some say she has a voice equal or greater then her beauty, but such things are always subjective. Course the people may also have said that so as not to insult a Princess.
Given her education in courtly matters both local and abroad, and as there was a growing need. Potentate Sherer decreed his youngest child would travel to Mobrin to act as an Ambassador for her people. For her safety one of their native soldiers, Morella's Handmaiden, and also a Priestess of the faith travelled with Morella to her new home.
Out of tradition, her father demanded a tower with a wall be built for his daughter, Morella was more lenient and accepted whatever residence could be provided for her, as long as it was suitable for a Princess. Whether it be a tower, manor, estate, or otherwise. Now that she was in a new land, one she had studied the etiquette, politics, and culture of, it is time to see how this Princess will survive in a land of 'foreigners'.
