Life growing up in Stormvale, was as good as it could be for a commoner girl. Her mother had a small shop where she sold her weavings, from cloth that was given to the seamstresses, to even some tapestries that were special ordered. She tried to teach her daughter, but Cliona did not enjoy it, always interested in plants at first. And then she became the child who was always prepared to help a friend who'd skinned a knee, or otherwise gotten a 'booboo'. Because of this, her mother brought her to Isuelt, a Master Healer there in Stormvale. With a bit of negotiation, Cliona was taken in and became her Apprentice, soon to learn all there was about healing, apothecary to healing, even surgery in some regards. She also followed Isuelt when she attended women in childbirth as a midwife. Days were spent doing chores associated with her learning - gardening, cleaning, putting together bandages, etc. When not with a patient, the evenings were spent learning; what tonics or salves to use for which sicknesses, how to set bones, how do you tend a woman in birth, and much much more, sometimes spending time with books that the Healer had.
With her keen sense of taste and smell, Cliona learned through trial and error, that sometimes, there was a 'smell' to an illness that others could not pick up on, or how minutely a tonic could be adjusted to better help someone. She also proved to be quite perceptive, keeping an eye on things around her, picking up things about her surroundings, or those of her patients, that some might miss. It's helped her become a better healer. She also showed to have a photographic memory, recalling easily things she'd seen, heard, or read.
Cliona was married to another healer, Alan, when she was about twenty years. They were together for five years before he was lost during a battle that he'd joined as a healer. Gone too is the son that they had together, Carry, who decided to impress a young girl by becoming a soldier. She lives with these losses, sometimes becoming depressed when the day has been too long.
With the years passing, Isuelt has gradually stopped taking patients, leaving her 'business' to her apprentice who has now gained the ranks of a Master Healer herself. What life will offer from here, is up to the Gods and Goddesses.
