Salon; Darfield Castle
A haven of serenity amidst the rush of the castle, the salon is designed as a place for relaxation or socialization. A hearty fire burns in the massive, marble fireplace, throwing a russet glow across the room. The walls are divided top from bottom with pale wooden paneling above and lapis marble with silver veins shot through it below. Several armchairs, a couch, and a loveseat are set around a beautiful table for an intimate tete-a-tete, the furniture finely made of deep mahogany wood with blue and silver cushions. An azure rug covers the center of the room, but at the edges the dark wood of the floor can be seen. A side table holds tea, coffee, wine and several small hors d'oeuvres, and desserts.

Elisen is seated in the salon, a thick fur over his shoulders as he rests by the fire. He's reading a book, an old piece of Mobrin fiction called "The Wolf and the Teapot." Sniffing, he turns the page, and reaches for his cup of tea that sits on the table beside him.

The salon is not so busy this evening, just a group from Kundari, and the Princess is just entering, preparing to be seated, her handmaid hovering beside her and a guard nearby. One of the regular maids moves to the sideboard to pour wine or serve fruit or other items. At the moment, Nima hesitates when she notices another already there, she ceases her speaking to her handmaid Syri, to greet the man already there. "Forgive me, am I interrupting? Would you prefer solace?" Unknowing who is seated there.

Elisen looks up, and he immediately smiles. Rising to his feet, he closes the book, a finger left inside to hold his page. "Well… hello there." He bows his head a bit, "Forgive ME, I was unaware the salon would be home to such radiance this evening." He tilts his head just a bit, "I am Elisen Stewert. Please, join me."

Stewert. The name is recognized, as hers would be too, since the Kundari and Laniveer had ties up until recently. Indeed, Nima is dressed in a saree and in the light turquoise and gold color of her house. She offers a curtsy, bowing her head demurely. "I am Rania Nima Yasmine al-Milan of the Kundari. It is a pleasure to meet you, Elisen Stewert. Thank you, truly, for the invitation. She moves to take a seat nearby, her smile holding a cautious warmth.

Elisen waits until she has sat, and then he sits. "Rania Nima Yasmine al-Milan," he repeats, a little smile on his lips. He closes the book completely, sitting it in his lap as he sips his tea before sitting the cup back on the table. Then, in Kundari, he offers, "It's my pleasure to meet you, Rania."

Nima responds to the smile he offers with the warming of hers by several degrees. "Thank you," she murmurs softly., pleased to hear him speaking in her native tongue, her cheeks tinting pink despite her olive skin tone. The maid delivers a goblet of strawberry wine along with some winter berries. Nima thanks her before looking back to Elisen. "The pleasure is truly mine. What brings you to Mobrin?"

Elisen rolls his head a bit, "Well…" He chuckles, "It turns out, I'm actually a prisoner, my sister and I." He seems amused, "We came here in the hopes of establishing peace, but Prince Tyrel is more interested in word games, unsubtle insults and generally just being a pompous ass. So, here we are." He lifts his brow, "And you? What brings you?"

Nima furrows her brow ever so slightly. "A prisoner? Then could you request your freedom to return to your own lands? Or at least with your nearest ally there?" The way he speaks of the prince earns a slightly disapproving look. "I think it unwise to speak of them in such a manner in their own castle, Elisen. They are under no such compunctions as to observe niceties in the time of war. The Kundari are here to secure an alliance beneficial to our House." Not being deceitful about it.

Elisen tilts his head, "Oh, I see." He looks downward a moment, a bit of unhappiness on his face for a moment. "Have um…" He furrows his brow, then looks back at her. "Have the Kundari found displeasure in their relationship with the Laniveer?"

"Only the fact that it is not based on anything and has been more tyrannical than anything. We would prefer an even ally, both sides equal, instead of a forced ally by attempting to overtake us." Nima says quite honestly.

Elisen nods, "I see. You feel we have bore a tyrannical arm against you." He sighs, "I'm sorry you feel that way. Unfortunately, allying with the Mobrin will be no different. They fight this war based on lies and made up stories of false claims to the Laniveer lands. I come here for peace, and they take me hostage." He shrugs, "Tyranny lies on both sides." Then he switches back to Kundari for a moment, looking back to her, "Perhaps we could find something to base our relationship on, Rania Nima Yasmine al-Milan."

Hearing him out, Nima looks troubled at the words.. genuinely troubled. "Is that true? They have locked you prisoner with no true reasoning behind it? Have you spoken to the King and asked his mercy on your situation? I have met with King Callum on several occasions on a journey to another land. He was very easy to speak with and seemed genuine. Would you have anything to prove that what you say is true, Elisen?"

"It is difficult to prove claims of Kingship and lineage are untrue when you're held captive," Elisen notes, and then rolls his eyes, "Which, I imagine, is likely the true reason they were so quickly to take my sister and I hostage."

Nima looks uncomfortable. "You are truly held hostage?" Though after a moment, she questions. "What are you speaking of, finding something to base our relationship on?"

Elisen nods, "We are." He gestures to the two guards at the door to the salon, "Those are for me." He looks back at Nima, and again he speaks to Kundari. "It's fortuitous we should both be here at the same time. You. Me. Your brother. My sister." He smiles, "Tell me. Is Prince Altair courting anyone?"

As he does, Nima speaks in Kundari. "He is not even thinking of courting anyone that I am aware of. Fortuitous? In what way would you think so?" She hands off her wine to Syri, not taking any drinks. Once rid of the glass, she clasps her hands together, regarding him, waiting for the explanation.

Elisen shrugs, "You're wishing to have an alliance based on something. I can think of nothing better to base alliances on than marriage." He smiles at her.

Nima gives him a long and lingering look, words failing her for a long moment, before heat steals into her cheeks. "Between.." Sudden realization. "Between my brother and your sister?"

"It's just conjecture," Elisen says, leaning back in the chair. "I'd certainly wish to speak with him on the matter." He smiles at her, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to embarrass you…"

"I.. thought you were meaning between myself and.. a member of House Stewert. It makes sense for it to be Altair." Nima says softly, in Kundari. "The King has suggested a match for me with Duke Sutherland, so should it occur, then my hands will be tied. Should it not, then it would be a great disadvantage to the Kundari and we should remove ourselves from Mobrin."

"Oh." Elisen watches her a long moment. "Duke Sutherland." He nods, "I see. He will be an incredibly lucky man. You are quite beautiful." His mouth stays open a moment, as he appreciates her. Finally, he nods, looking away.

"I.." Nima falls silent, realizing she was sounding as if like a mimic. "Thank you, Elisen. I.. thank you for thinking so." Until age of eighteen she had to wear a veil over her face, so she was unused to compliments.

Elisen offers her a warm smile. "I know so." He picks up his book. "Would you consider speaking with your brother? Perhaps you could ask him to meet with me."

"Of course, I would be honored to have him speak with you. Perhaps on the morrow, for even now it is beyond time for me to find rest for the evening." Nima rises, curtsies. "It was indeed a pleasure making your acquaintance Elisen Stewert of Laniveer. I look forward to meeting you again."

Elisen rises as well. He bows, and in Kundari offers, "The pleasure was entirely mine, Rania Nima Yasmine al-Malin. Believe me." He smiles widely, taking her in once more. "Perhaps we could have dinner you and I. Um… To be friends."

"Oh I would enjoy that, Elisen Stewert." Nima says in Kundari. "Perhaps in the Kundari suite and you can meet both of my brothers that are here. Bring your sister with you, if you would."

Elisen nods, "I'd like that." He bows, and watches her go.
