Greenshire Suite - Darfield Castle
The main room for the apartments for the Greenshire family is very large but cozy and smells of herbs and flowers. The stone walls have been washed with paint; they are a soft sun-kissed yellow. On the stone floor woven rugs have been placed instead of rushes for the comfort of those staying there. In this room there is a long walnut bench; its back has been carved to show a farming scene. The bench also has comfortable cushions covered in a woven fabric with four ground colors: white, light blue, yellow-green, and pink, each print including red roses and blue flowers. It makes a lovely focal point for the room as it is sitting in front of the fire place at a comfortable distance, allowing room for more chairs near the fire. The large stone fireplace is flanked by two comfortable wooden chairs. The cushions of the chairs have been covered in a heavy light blue fabric. Before one of the chairs there is a small foot stool. Above the fireplace hang two bearded axes. They have an elaborate silver inlay, thus showing the status of the owner. The fireplace itself has an oak mantel that is heavily carved with a likeness in favor to each of the gods and goddesses of light. Sitting on the mantel are two silver candelabras holding bees wax candles. Near the fireplace in the corner there is a spinning wheel and small loom.
On the opposite side of the room near the two large windows overlooking the courtyard is a long oak table. Set around the table are matching heavy wood chairs. On the table there are two more silver candelabras. At each of the windows there are window boxes filled with herbs and flowers. On the wall near the table there is a large shield with the coat of arms of the Count's family and two ornate yew longbows inlaid with silver and gold rest beside it.

Evening time in the suite will find the Count emerging from his room, as if he just woke up. He yawns and rubs his eyes, straightening his clothes out and pouring himself a cup of wine. Servants hustl and bustle now making preperations for dinner with the upmost speed. He looks about now, seemingly apporving and fetches his pipe. A dreary light is cast in from the windows and lends itself to mix with the candles scattered about. There is an unusually warm temperature coming from the hearth and thte fire blazes enormously. Harli, the Counts personal guard is sitting in the corner talking with Kayla and the two seem to have something to laugh about. Aldren looks on fondly.

It had seemed ages since the Kilgour woman had been to the Greenshire suite, but here she was knocking upon the door to that very suite. Dressed in a simple black gown, no real adornments to it or added bling to herself. For once Nylie's hair is pulled back in full, secured within a pliat that hang down her back. The ever present maid and guard that shadow and chaperon the woman. A close look would perhaps show some puffiness yet at her eyes.

Once admitted by the servants, Nylie's smokey eyes sweep over the suite. A small breathe drawn as she does offer a curtsy towards the Count,"Good evening, Count Aldren. I hope I am not interupting." A brief drift of her eyes to the servants working on the dinner preperations. "I only had a question, if you have a moment."

Aldren receives Nylie now with a smile. "Interrupting? OF course not. I was wondering if you would ever sup with us again. It seems we do not get on like we were for a short time." He frowns, "But that may be my fault. I do forget my manners sometimes. IS this something private. Should your guards and maid accompany us to my office?" His own black livery is a bit wrinkled and he will now attempt to flatten it out subconciously as he awaits her answer.

Nylie inclines her head and steps in further when he says she is not interupting. There is a brief hestation,"It does seem so, though we do not oft cross paths as we did before. Not since we last shared a meal with Wenna." For even if she had played that one night, not a word had been spoken. "My new duties have perhaps kept me busier than I thought," so what if they only got assigned but days ago. "I have been remiss in offering you congradulations as well, Count Aldren." There is a glance at his office briefly before she asks her question and perhaps lets him decide,"I had simply wished to know if word had been recieved from Lord Admiral Eoin, he spoke that he hoped the trip would only take a week, but could take near two depending upon what was found." A pause before she gives some explaniation on perhaps why she asks,"I promised to do something upon his return, and did not know if I should plan for it yet."

He nods along. "WE should have to remedy that." He says happily. "And I was not aware of your new duties. Whatever they are I have no doubt you will excell wonderfully at them. And thank you. I must thank you for playing. It certainly made the evening." His words are polite and sincere. Now he raises his eyebrow a bit and motions to the office. "Best if we spoke more privately I would think." He smiles now and leads the way if she does not object.

"I do not think most are yet aware of them, His Majesty has detailed me to be the ambassador to the Skingaardian delgiation and the trade talks with them. I thank you for your confidence, Count Aldren." Nylie gives a small bow of her head,"My brother once asked me to play for your wedding, I thought it might yet be appreciated. And I could not think of what else I could truly give." There is no objection and Nylie does step to follow him to the office with a small incline of her head. The shadowy pair yet following after.

Greenshire Attache Office - Darfield Castle
The attache office has a freshly painted look. The south, east and west walls are done in a dark green color leaving the north wall in a bright white for an accent. Rich mahogany floors match the crown molding that trims the ceiling. A single window with emerald curtains is open slightly behind the desk that sits in front of the white north wall; on the other end is a wooden chair. The desk itself is a bit cluttered with papers and quills. A large pewter plate that seemingly has the remnants of past pipe smokings sits upon it as well.
To the left of the door when you enter is a over-sized couch with flowered patterns about it. Across from that are two large chairs with a small table between them. Atop the table sets an oil lamp with a dark shade over it. Wall sconces also provide light in the evening and are spaced every few feet from each other. In the corner of the room are a few lavish pillows on the floor that serve for the dog's bed. A steel bowl with a bit of water is there as well. A large banner with the Haravean likeness hangs upon the eastern wall and upon the western are some water color paintings of what seems to be Greenshire lands. A large thick rug lays in the center of the room making a small leisure area. It portrays a setting sun that can be seen through the opening of some trees and fits allmost perfectly between the couch and chairs.

Entering the office, Aldren waits and closes the door. He motions to the couch for her guards and maid if they wish to sit and offers her the chair across from his desk, sliding it in for her when she sits. Crossing over he sits on the other side and begins. "Nay, I've not heard word from him but I do not expect anything remiss has happened. The trip was not of an offensive nature in regards to the war" He pauses, considering now before continuing. "Though, I am not surprised of your inquiry." A smile given, "May I asked what you had planned?"

The maid does go along to take a seat on the couch, for once not scowling. Afterall, nothing can be as bad as last night now. It is all about perspective now. The guard does move near the couch but opts to remain standing. Nylie takes the offered seat across from his desk, a hand absently smothing the black skirts of her dress in the process. "I had not figured trouble would be expected from what he had spoke of, but I had not figured it could hurt to ask." It also proved a distraction in the current days. There is a small rise of her eyebrows when he however says he is not surprised she is inquirying. She does incline her head a little,"Aye, you may. Before he left, we had discussed the harvest festivals," of Greenshire obviously,"and in the course of it, I had offered to play at the next. In doing so, we realized he had not yet heard me play. A thing we agreed needed remedying. But since he was leaving soon, it was a thing to wait until his return. "

He nods along, "Hymm, well. The Gwyl Dewrder is coming up. That is the spring time festival, and /much/ more lively." He grins to think of it. "Though, with the war coming it will be more difficult to attend, though I do not doubt it will also be much more lively than even I had thought possible. May I ask, have you saw fit to remain in the city when spring comes. Its location certainly makes it susceptible to attack. If you were wishing relocation there are many keeps in the County you would be welcome in. One good thing about Greenshire is that while some consider us /backwoods/ or what have you those same backwoods are almost entirely removed from the war. A foreign militairy unit has not set foot there in almost five hundred years."

"I can see how the looming war adding a certain energy to the festival. Given each of our duties, we did not much discuss the spring time festival. As the Lord Admiral offered to ensure that I again got to see the harvest festival, I thought I could not help but offer to play, if it was wished." And who ever turns down an extra musician? Nylie pauses at the question raised,"In truth, I do not yet know. I will go where Callem asks me to be, as I always have. If it is to remain here, then here is where I will be." There is a faint smile that comes,"I am aware, even if my brother tends to forget, I have spent time in most every corner of our fair kingdom. With a childhood in Sky Forest," least what childhood she was allowed," I do appreciate backwoods as you say. I do appreciate the offer, if I am allowed say in where I am to be, I shall perhaps take you up on it."

The Count listens along to her, completely unaware of her entourage as they speak. "Well, I hope that your duties take you someplace safe. I do think the Dynast of Skingaard would have his daughter here much longer with the war so close to beginning. I was surprised she showed up at this time to be honest. Though, you must assume their is some motive at play that we do not know." He pauses briefly to give her a grin. "But that is where you come in. Surely you will learn all of her. If you find yourself seeking any advice on them do not hesitatte to seek me out. Their lands lau but a days from mine and we trade extensively. I have had relations with them my entire reign as did my father and our people mingle often. I know the dynast himself as well as Karissa's brother. Another positive if you were to visit for a time. Greenshire would put you in close proximity to the island. But let us leave this office now, it grows stuffy and I have a thirst. I beg you to join us if you would." If she does not object he will stand and accompany her to the end of the room, opening the door back tothe suite.

"There is always some motive at play, Count Aldren, it is the way of noble and Court. " Nylie gives him a faint smile,"But, aye, that is where I have always come in." Nodding a little,"I have met some with the Princess already, we get along well. Though the Crown Prince does advice me to not take up their fashions." There is a brief frown, recalling just why he said not to. "It would be a reason to spend the time in Greenshire, if further time was needed in our talks. Or simply continued relations in a safer venue." Nylie nods and starts to rise at his words,"I would be pleased to join you." Inquiring as he comes around the desk,"Though I am curious, Count, why is it you were not surprised about my inquirey?"

The Count stops now, a quick and concise answer given. "Lady Nylie. Do you think I have not noticed you two spending time together?" He grins at her. "And surely I know my couisin. He is a charming man." The smile brightens as they leave the room.

Lady Nylie and Count Aldren emerge from the office now, guards and maid behind them. Both dressed in black, you can hear the Count saying as he looks at the backside of Nylie quickly before moving his eyes to am more appropriate place. (good thing he is between her and her guards and it is most likely not noticed) "Ha! If the Prince said that he is surely blind. Believe /me/. I am versed in their style and have nod doubt it would suit you." Hymm appropriate or not? Either way said most sincerly and with a flattering tone.

There is a mild shake to Nylie's head at whatever was said prior to them stepping through the door. The fact that the Count is checking her out as it were, unknown to her as well. Least he gets a good view, she had 'aged' exceedingly well. There is a brief pink that toches her cheeks, thankfully he is walking behind her,"Aye, I believe that was in part his reasoning, something about my admirers. And I have enough trouble with how your sister has moved from talking, to actually arranging dinners so I may be 'met'." A glance back at him as she notes,"She does not share your observation, or would disagree with them."

In their time in the meeting, Elisabeth has come into the suite and is sitting near the fireplace to warm up her feet after an apparent walk outside. Her maid is dealing with her cloak, shaking out the damp from the snow. As the door to the office opens, Elisabeth looks up and quickly rises to her feet to see who it is. THere is a curious look to her cousin before she smiles to Nylie, "Mylady, it is a pleasure seeing you again. What brings you to our Greenshire Haven?"

Aldren becomes quite angered when she speaks of his sister. "Damn that woman!" He says all too loudly, not yet noticing Lis. "She is no head of anyones house, nor does she have any vested interest in you save her own opinions of your future that she would force on you." He is a bit reddend now. Not only does she meddle in everyones affairs but she would move right along and thwart his own plans. She is supposed to be helping him here in the city not stealing possible matches and ruining the few moves he would make. But he does not say any of that out loud. No, he regains himself and says for her benefit. "I will speak with her. And your brother. He must bring her to heel on some matters." He grins now and adds a jape to lighten the mood, "Not a task I would wish upon any man." He now notices Elisabeth and the smile broadens, "Remember what I was telling you of my sisters affliction from her first marriage? It seems the addiction has only worsened." Shaking his head he adds, "I am having wine. What will you two have?"

There is a blink to actually hear Aldren speak in such a fashion about Wenna, it was certainly a rarity. Nylie certainly doesn't disagree with any of the comments made, they are true, the woman had no right or power to meddle in any potential match for Nylie. That was purely Callem's privliage and right. "I have made mention of the matter and my concerns to my brother recently, especially since your sister and Roslin seem to be of the same mind on one area. I know not if he has had chance to speak with her, but I am certain he would not mind the aid, it seems a favoured hobby of hers." To say the least. And for once Nylie doesn't ask for tea, but instead,"Some wine would be quite lovely, Count Aldren. " Offering a smile to Elisabeth, a bow of her head to the woman,"It is a pleasure to again see you as well Lady Elisabeth. I had some questions for Count Aldren, though he has reminded me I have to long been absent in sharing meals here as I did when I first arrived back to the city. "

Elisabeth blinks at Aldren's words and then struggles really hard not to smile at his frustration, dropping her gaze slightly. "Women are romantic creatures at heart your excellency. So often our heart over rules our sense and we require you men to remind us where are hearts should lie." Yes she said that seriously though there is a brightness in her eyes that tells of her amusement. She cants her head to Nylie. "I am coming to understand your frustrations upon the matter. Even the prince was asking upon the matter of romance where I was concern, I was quite discomfitted." As a servent goes to prepare wine she nods as well to express her desire for a glass as well.

The Count orders the drinks poured and they are, swiftly. Considering his words now for a moment he glances at Elisabeth, a nod to her words on women. "Yes, I would be remiss in my duties if I did not." A cold look now gets all the guards and maids leaving save Nylies of course. Servants shuffling out as well. Now he looks to Elisabeth as well. "Really? Does he wish to pair you up with a Kilgour as well? I thought Mikhail was far away and a bit young. And Logen…" Well, he does not say that the man just lost his wife nor does he comment on anything else about the man he would surely not allow any of his kin to marry. "Do people forget who is running this house? Since when do we discuss marriage prospects save with the person who is responsible for arranging such things?" He is reddened again now. A deep drink of his wine will help to remind heim to calm down, afterall, he /is/ the head of his house he thinks though no one else seems to remember. With the new found privacy he says to Nylie, "I do not know what treachery these others plan for you. But I can speak to your brother. He is not one to allow Roslin or Tyrel to shape the future of his beloved sister and he was certainly able to arrange his own marriage with the kings blessing. For his Majesty does respect his opinion. At risk of sounding a hippocrat, "For that is surely what he is about to do, "and since you have all manner of folks seeking to rush you off, would you wish I did so." He does not say to whom or even neccesairly why but he does glance to a possible future sister-in-law if that helps clarify things unspoken. Afterall, apparently he must move /much/ quicker than he thought.

There is a mild rise of Nylie's eyebrows at the comment about women being romantic creatures, it was alas..not a condition she'd quite suffered from exactly. Never in one place long enough, well almost never. There was of course risk of it now. There is a faint smile for Elisabeth,"It is worse in that they do not ask me, they just…do. Such as with Wenna, I get invited to join her and my brother for dinner, and oh won't I bring something to play, only to arrive and find some Duke or Lord there joining us for the meal." Taking up the wine glass once the beverage is served. And alas, aye, her guard and maid remain even if they do make themselves mostly scarce, for Aldren has not the power to vanquish them from the room.

"And Logen is matched," finishes Nylie for the Count. Even if not announced, well the family is aware enough of some matter. "My brother is upon my side in the matter, Count Aldren. We have spoken upon the topic, and he would not wish to see me used as some politcal pawn anymore than I wish to be. And Callem…has not yet seen fit to see me married off," the the Gods know there must have been offers, requests when she was younger. Surely. There is a slight blink to the….offer that comes from Aldren. "Not you as well, Count Aldren?" There is a sigh and she shakes her head before drawing a drink of the wine before speaking again. "Caedmon has promised me, to what extent he can make such, it shall be my choice to make, and I will not jump to such a thing just because so many seek to meddle and have found sudden interest in me. "

Elisabeth shakes her head, "No, only asked if I had an interest and should I wish for support in a match. I suggested such is the realm of my parents and my leige lord." She says with a nod of her head though looks away slightly a bit of colour coming to her cheeks at the memory of the conversation comes to mind. She looks up to her brother at the words he speaks of the prince and Princess, "I think it is not meant as an insult dear Cousin. I am her Lady and perhaps she too is fitted with romantic notions where I am concern. A womanly desire to see me wed, not as much as a noble one. To you and My father do I look to for approval in such matters even if they should find a match. Please be assured of that? I would not wish you to put yourself in discord over my hand." She says with gentle words to her cousin.
There is a look to Nylie and a touch of a frown as she hears what she has gone through over the years. "I am sorry for what you have gone through milady. I hope what choices are made now are those that you have a voice in the making." She says in a light voice. "I would be lying if I said I did not want you a part of this family, but it is out of favour to you, not your name that my desire lies."

Aldren waves that dismissive hand at her. "No, not me." He says quickly to assure her he is not gone to setting her up, his cousin already did that part. "But if you prefer your marriage to be to one you clearly think of whilst awaiting to spend time with then you only need say the word. You may find that your brother will have little bearing on the matter if Callem is approached wtih an offer he cannot refuse. Then you may find yourself spending your days in the Finger isles. Or worse, Lakeshire." He grins at Elisabeth now. "Your inquiry and words of you spending time with Eoin only gave me pause. But alas! I do not wish to play games with your future. It was only an offer to help if you wanted."

Elisabeth now gains his attention. "Elisabeth, surely you do not think me such a fool. And I know you have spent enough time in the princess' company to know better. All that she does is a move. She is not one of /romatic/ endeavours. She considers herself quite clever and would overstep any lord she saw fit. Do not make a mistake. I do take offense." There he said it, sure it will get back to Roslin and caring not. And if it does not all the better. Afterall him and Nylie seems to have gotten past asny misunderstanding and does not think she will go blabbing. But he has said nothing wrong. It is not the place of a sixteen year old to make any serious inquieres or matches, princess or not in his opinion.

Nylie gives a small shake of her head to Elisabeth,"Please do not be, I serve my House as is needed, I would not change that. There is a price for all of us to do what we must." Her's has just perhaps been higher than most know. A smile does gently form,"I do appreciate it, though as my brother tells me, I am part of the family for his own marriage."

OH but…Nylie does counsel similarly,"The Count does speak true about Roslin, she will seek to meddle and push as she see's fit, not for romancitc notations. For she tries her own hand to meddle and match me, because she would wish greater ties with House Kinciad." A glance to Aldren,"Wenna seemed to agree upon the match." But Nylie quite agrees, a 16 yr old has no right to match her, let alone those outside the family. "Please do not think me ill to speak of her so, but my cousin does like to think she is older than her years. Though she lacks the full wisdom and sight that can only come in experiencing such time."

A drink of wine is drawn as Nylie studies Aldren for a time, a brief glance towards Elisabeth before back to Aldren. Her own chaperons forgotten of as they often are. "In the end, Count Aldren, is is only Callem who can allow or deny a match, no matter what I would wish. He has long denyed any request, ensured I was kept away from such lines of interest. I would have thought after all these years, such would lack. " She was an 'old maid' by alrights gosh darnit! "If there comes an offer that Callem cannot refuse, then I will not be able to refuse him in turn. If he waits for such an offer, then there is nothing I can do in the end, Count Aldren."

Elisabeth remains quiet during Aldren's tirade. Perhaps in this she has been naive, so new to court after the isolation of Greenshire. Or so reliant on the proper order of things that she would not think such would be broken. To speak on things is one thing, to act quite another. Indeed she seems quite unsettled by the Count's words. Having a moment where Loyalties are torn between the Royals she serves and her family that she must also serve. The words of the Count and then Nylie in turn finally bare quite hard on her and she settles into the nearest seat and reaches for the glass of wine. She opens her mouth to speak, but it closes as promptly with a glance at the witnesses here. "I feel as a fly caught in a web between two spiders." She finally says in but a whisper before looking to Nylis. "I do not know how you have born so much uncertainty for so long."

The Count manages a deep breathe while Ny speaks to his couisin on her own. At some point another healthy sip of wine taken as he nods at this part and that, frowning at Roslin tying with the Kincaids as best she can. When she finishes he says, "Well, let the waiting continue then. But I will make sure to chide my sister again if your brother has forgotten too. If this persists I will find myself at the wedding of Rorey to the prince Avi. And then I would utterly be sick." the words themselves sounding so, " all upon the dias as I came to realization whilst giving her away." He shakes his head at the thought. Turning now to his cousin he says, "I am sorry I cannot promise the same to you on waiting." He grins at her kinda sadly as if to say /sorry coz, you certainly are trade bait/. "The uncertainty part though…Well…..Well." He finds a cup for Elisabeth, and even ones for the maids and guards. After pouring a small drink for each and passing them out he declares. "To the Queen of Mobrin! Long live the legacy of Laetitia Kilgour. The land not knowing more beauty or reslolution in a woman!"

To see what plays through Elisabeth as so much is suddenly revealed to her in the way of Court, Nylie does drift to lightly place a hand to her shoulder, a brief touch of attempted comfort. "It is worse when one is the fly and there are a dozen spiders." There is a faint, even if slightly sad smile,"Because it was what was asked of me, required of me. It is not an easy thing to come to terms with, to learn how to navigate. " Nylie pauses briefly before noting, advising,"There is much for you to learn in serving Roslin, but trust in your brother and Count Aldren to best guide you, for they will care most about you truly, and not just that which can be gained from you."

Nylie gives a nod to Aldren, a faint smile,"I have been waiting this long, Count Aldren, I can manage a little longer." In truth, she was overwhelmed by it all. She had long ago come to terms with the 'fact' she'd never be married. To have it all suddenly upend….was a force to confront. The depth of, she couldn't even bring herself to talk to her brother about. But the matter is easier to be pushed aside when Aldren makes the toast declaration, raising her cup,"To the Queen, long live her memory." Before draining far more wine from the cup then she likely should in one drink. A small breathe drawn before she notes,"I should retire, tomorrow will be no short day," none of them were with so many coming to pay their respects. "But you were right, Count Aldren, I should come by more often, as I once did." Offering a curtsy to him in that proper fashion, before bowing her head to Elisabeth,"It was good to again see you." A bit of an apologetic smile, the poor thing had much now to think about.

Elisabeth glances to her cousin as he speaks words of Avi, her own eyes steeling at their mention. Nylie's touch and words, draw at least some comfort in a way to the young woman. At least it is not something that is faced alone. "I would speak to you later." She says the faintest glances to Aldren than back to Nylis. It seems she will value the woman's wisdom on the matter. As the Duke raises the toast though, Elisabeth composes herself and stands to raise her own glass. "TO the queen, forever may she be remembered." She says softly before taking a rather large drink herself.
