Treasure was the daughter of a copyist and bookseller in town, whose fortune was destroyed five years ago when his shop caught on fire and his capital was all lost. His beautiful daughter was barely rescued from the fire, her good looks perished along with his books, papers and inks. Now he and his wife live in poverty while he scrapes together a living as a public scribe, his daughter living hidden in the hovel they share with another family.

When the proprietor of a local brothel came knocking at their door bearing the news that one of the nobility was offering a small bounty for the ugliest maiden in the lands to share his bed, what could parents in such a situation do? There was money on the line, but they held out, demanding to meet the noble in question, and then bargaining with him that they would hand over their daughter in return for her achieving a position as a servant in the palace.

It was certainly not something Treasure ever expected to happen to her. But after five years hidden in the shadows, recovering and coming to terms with her new appearance, she was game for a change and took her new position as handmaiden/concubine gladly. As the weeks and months passed, she has discovered a fondness for the noble who took her out of the shadows, and while his wishes are sometimes odd, she finds herself more and more in the light, coming into an awareness that she didn't have before - as ugly as she is, there is at least one who seems to not care, and looks beyond her disfigurement to the woman that lies beneath.

Physical Features

To all appearances, a woman. At the very least, she has womanly curves and is dressed in woman's clothing; a simple maidenly gown in fabrics that mark her somewhere's higher than a mere commoner, and yet far from noble. The dress is a ruddy tan with a darker crimson runner down the front with black embroidery in a lace pattern down either side, a simple cinch clutching at a high waistline about her ribs. She's of unexceptional height, taller than average but not so much as to stand out, five six or five seven. When out in public, she may be covered by a dark grey cloak, hood pulled over her bald head to allow the shadows to half hide her face.

What does undeniably make her stand out is her countenance, that of a woman badly burnt upon the right side, skin scarred over and cragged, one ear missing, one eyelid mangled at the outside corner of her eye, and, on the same side of her face, her lower lip seemingly melted at the corner, drooping unnaturally toward her chin. The other side of her face fared slightly better, a patchy eyebrow trying to grow, as well as a few locks of hair which she generally keeps shorn in order to maintain a uniform baldness over her scalded scalp. Her right hand seems to have also born the brunt of the fire, skin patchy and leathery, the last knuckles of both her ring and pinky finger missing. Evidence of a fragile beauty can be seen upon this woman's face, if one looked beyond the scars that are found there now. Despite her deformity, or perhaps because of it, she carries herself with the confidence of a woman with little to lose.

Behavior

Most might see Treasure as the quiet companion to Lady Faerinia Kincaid. But those who might have gotten to know her further, would know she's quite intelligent, and cheerful, with a sense of humor. For one so badly disfigured, she seems to not care at all what others might say or think of her.

Quirks

• Ugly and Doesn't Care - She's been burned, was hidden for five years by her family, and her looks would likely scare children, but these days, she doesn't care.
• Crippled Hand - Her right hand is scarred from being burnt as well, and is sometimes stiff, making it hard for her to do things with it.
• Half-Deaf - Her right ear was burned and thus her hearing is not the best.
• Loyalty - She is deeply loyal to Kierne Kincaid, and to his cousin, Faerinia.
• High Pain Tolerance - With as badly as she was injured, it's only understandable that she's come to deal with the pain that might still linger.
• Nightmares - She has nightmares of the fire that nearly killed her.
