Background
Duchess of Lakeshire as wife to Duke Aidan Kincaid and Sister of Caedmon Kilgour, Voice of the King.
Born to the House of Kilgour and far from the most distinguished of her House as a simple cousin, Nylie is the middle child to Lord Alain Kilgour and Fionna Kilgour née Forrester. The older sister to Caedmon, the Voice of the King, the Baron of Albion.
Having shown an aptitude for music at an early age, Nylie's lessons took a decidedly musical focus fairly quickly. Though she was not left to lack within her other studies, additional tutors specializing in musical endeavors were obtained to further her skills. As her abilities continued to prosper, her father began seeking fostering arrangements that would see her study under the best tutors and musicians that were to be had. And thus she was often away a much as she was actually present at their home at Brebliannant, Sky Forrest. The price of her lessons, in becoming what her father and House determined was best, was that she did not get much time with her family, to build and have what some might call the usual connections that often grow between family. Though it is not something that lessened the pain nor grief any when her father and eldest brother were claimed by battle, nor the pain that comes in seeing her mother yet consumed by the grief of their passing.
Even now, practice and further honing of her skills is often what takes up much of her time, and is the required focus and her defined purpose for her House. And to that end, Nylie has only just recently come to reside in Darfield. Having returned to from being within the care and hospitality of the King of Aberdeen, as arranged by her beloved cousin Callem, so she might study under the best instructors and musicians Aberdeen has to offer. But with war upon them all, the time to return has come, for while she has learned much in these past years of study, she has came to miss her home a great deal, to miss having a family. Time to again perform for the honor of her House, to delight in time with her cousin and to perhaps finally get to know her brother better and meet his new wife, for long has she heard of how well he has done for himself and the honor of the House. And she would wish to know of him better, before she would come to lose him as well.
Ever the quiet one, Nylie is often the last one thought of when it comes to oh so many matters, if recalled at all, for many have even forgotten that Caedmon even has a sister. This perhaps explaining how the woman has managed to reach her mid-thirties and yet remain unmarried. For often when a match was needed, there was someone 'better' to offer within an arrangement, or simply by being out of sight so often for her musical study, she was also out of mind. Though the truth of it, Nylie has never been bothered in being looked over and has shown no interest in changing this. Always has her focus been to her duty to the House and how she was best given over to serve, and thus she serves through her music and bettering her abilities. Thus with the years that have passed, she is more an 'Old Maid' by the standards of society and the younger Ladies of the House are the focus in matches, and the time has long passed for any opportunities for marriage.

Character Features
The woman appears to be in her mid-thirties and her frame appears lithe and trim as it reaches to it's full five feet six inches. The soft tanned tone of her skin has a healthy glow to it as it moves over her features. The sculpted curves of her face and slight curve in her slightly slanted eyebrows contain an edge of delicateness that adds to her uniqueness. Long chestnut brown hair hangs down upon her back in two spiraled twists that begin at her temples and move over the curvature of her ears. Her deep smokey gray eyes appear to have a faint gleam to them now and again as she gazes out upon her surroundings.
A dress of crushed velvet is worn this day. The material the color of deep gray, adorned with deep purple accents. Finely tailored to her form, the material plays down over her subtle curves perfectly. A deep purple belt circles her waist and rests upon her hips at a slightly jaunty angle, the remaining material left to fall within the fashion of the day. The skirts of the dress flow loosely from there to a point just an inch or so above the ground. A purple velvet ribbon just slightly looser than a typical choker is worn about her neck with a silver and smoky pearl pendant hanging from it. There is a glint of silver to be seen from the small selection of rings that she wears.
Behavior
Ever the quiet one in most public and social settings, Nylie is content upon the fringes when it comes to conversational matters. And even more content if she is bidden to play one of the many instruments she had been trained upon, for then her music is allowed to speak for her, to be the focus, or even yet simply within the background and ambiance for that which is worthy of taking center stage.
This is not to say there is not more to Nylie, it is simply rarely is more given up and shown for there are truly few she has ever been around long enough to know and trust in order to open up and be more than the dutiful musician of Kilgour. And fewer yet who could say the know the quiet musician well.
Quirks
Dutiful - Even since a young child, Nylie has been nothing but what was expected and asked of her by her family, her House. Never does she waver from what is required, nor complain when to much is asked of her. She sees it as her duty as a daughter and Lady of Kilgour to see it through.
Fear of Thunder - Likely stemming from one of the first trips away from home when a horrific thunderstorm rolled in, adding to the fear and uncertainty the young toddler was already dealing with. It is these emotions that come flooding back with each clap of thunder that Nylie hears, sometimes she can keep everything yet in check, other times it comes overwhelming to the point of debilitation. Truly, the only place to be during a thunderstorm, in her mind, is curled up under a blanket on her bed.
Light Sleeper - Often the littlest sounds or movements will rouse Nylie form her sleep. She sleeps very lightly and always has. She can 'sleep through' nothing, including the night. For rarely does a night pass when she does not wake and need to take walk or have some cup of tea to ease her back to sleep.
Natural Musician - Music is simply a thing that has always come easily and naturally to Nylie. Songs are easily picked up from hearing them but once, instruments simply fit naturally within her hands or under her fingers. Music comes to her as easily as breathing does to most others. And long has this ability and talent been cultivated and encouraged to flourish.
The Quiet One - So often sent to spend time in other places, with families not her own, Nylie found the best thing way to handle it was to be very much was expected of her as a young child, quiet. It is something that lingers on, for when it comes to being in a large gathering, Nylie is more often to 'hide behind' an instrument if she has been bidden to play, or to simply withdraw and remain more observer in the conversations that flow. It does allow her the chance to observe and oft see what those immersed in it all fail to pick up on.
Whimsical - While so often what is expected of her in the public eye, at Court, for she is a Kilgour. Nylie does have a whimsical side that comes out when in private, when others are most likely not to give witness to her doings. Snow gets formed into snowmen, sand takes upon various forms along the shore, the stray turn of flowers turn up in her hair, amongst a number of things that just might come about. If for no other reason then to keep reminder of why her duty must be done, what life is truly worth.
